'Team Player in Christ"

Teamwork is a vital part of life in the body of Christ. God’s work involves many different individuals with a variety of gifts, talents and abilities.

1 Cor 12:12-14
12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body-- whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free-- and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
14 Now the body is not made up of one part but of many

Are you a team player? Yesterday I felt led to write about leadership. In asking God what was important for today I just felt like how you could be a great leader if we are not a good team player. As I went in search of scripture, I remembered how Paul spoke to the Corinthians in telling them how they are part of Christ. I realized that our body is a good example of how team playing works. For instance, you have knees and feet, but if you only have knees and no feet, you could not walk or vice a versa, with one eye you would only see half as much as you do with two. You could have a mouth and no nose and you could eat but not smell.

This is just as it should be when working. If you do not have a good team, you will find that you are not successful. If someone calls out sick, does that not put the extra work on you? Do you think about that when you are feeling lazy and you call out for the day, do you realize who you are hurting? Is it really the boss or your team? Is your boss part of the team or does he/she just sit back and watch? How would you feel if Jesus just sat back and never heard anything, you had to say, or never bothered to help you thru difficult situations? As the scripture reads, the Lord must have thought very carefully about what parts went with what, and what part was needed to make the other work properly. If you think about it we are like one giant puzzle, if one piece is missing, the rest does not fit together very well. The same goes with working, in your job or things simple as housework, maintaining a family unity. Does it not take everyone pulling together to get things done right and efficiently?

My point here is you have to be a team player to be successful in all areas of your life, and to be a team player you cannot leave out the most important player, who is Christ the Lord and Savior. You will find struggle after struggle and the puzzle will never fit properly. Ask God to be the Head of your household, to be the leader in your workplace and to give you wisdom to be the best team player you can be.We can only become useful members of God’s team if we are prepared to set aside any desire to receive glory for what we do

God, we ask you to help us give of our best as we work together, Help us to be the example for all those around us. Give us your blessing Lord as we start this new step in our lives to be better team players and leaders. Remind us often that you are the Leader who helps and makes way for better. I Love you Precious Father and I thank you for being the Leader in my own personal life. Each day I ask for your blessings and wisdom as I give study to others. Thank you Father in Jesus Name…Amen!

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! (Philippians 2:3-8).
