“Deacon or Deaconess”

Are you a Deacon or Deaconess in your life? One who serves, a runner, or a messenger, the glue that holds things in place.

1Timothy 3:13 For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.

Timothy 3:1-8-1The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

The bible is very clear on what it means to be a deacon or deaconess; it is a clear understanding of what it takes to be a servant to the Lord.

One who is not afraid of what others will think of them, who is not afraid to let all know about your Father, to go out of your own comfort zone to speak openly with total stranger about God as well as aid others in the house of the Lord, for Christ, rather you are helping park cars or working in the nursery. It is the simple things that we do that lets others see our inner self.

In the broad sense, all Christians are called to be “deacons” or “servants.” The deacon-spirit of humble service for others should motivate all that we do. Are others seeing you as an outstanding servant-spirit? Are you trustworthy, respected, serious, dignified, and Godly? These are all qualities necessary to becoming a good deacon or deaconess. Model yourself after Jesus, for He is the Model Deacon. God bless you my friends.
