The Snowfall, the crisp winter air as it brings color to your cheeks, the deep breath that you breathe out as the cold hits your lungs. Are you having trouble with the “winter blues? The excitement of Christmas is over and the landscape is drab and dreary, heavy with the never-ending winter snow. As the snow piles up you see no end. The days seem to get shorter, yet longer as time never passes. The morning awakens you to a cold floor, you find yourself lifeless as you go thru the motions of getting prepared for the day ahead. Why do we need winter, it’s so depressing?
Proverbs 25:13 as the cold of snow in the time of harvest so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
The snow forms a warm mantle to protect the grass and grain fields. It wraps its soft warm covering around the plants, and thus protects them from the frost. Many animals also take shelter in the banks of snow, and are thus kept from being frozen to death. The snow of winter is as important in securing our food and blessing as the rain of the summer. Summers intense heat and the absence of rain produce the great deserts of the earth; so intense cold and the absence of snow would produce barren tracts upon the earth.
God does everything perfectly. God is not in a hurry, God not only has a purpose in all that He does, but He has a purpose for good. God is pure, and He wants us to be pure.
Take time to enjoy the beauty of winter. Build a snowman, take a sled ride, sip on hot chocolate and watch the birds and squirrels as they play and search for food, learn from them. If you haven’t already, put up a bird feeder and just watch the beauty that will surround it, as I do. Wake up to God today and feel His love for you, feel the warmth of His embrace, for all chill will disappear in His arms. God bless you my dear friends, find your warmth and enjoy the weather outside as its purpose is for you.
To everything there is a season, and time to every purpose under the heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1
