Are you in need?

In my life I have met many who are less fortunate than I am. As a Christian I feel it is my duty to assist with God’s help. I am only one, but if each of us did just a little, we could help so many. It’s the little things in life that mean the most to someone. And it is as simple as a nice warm handshake, or a hot meal, or even sometimes just a hello will help others to get through what they are enduring. I recall times in Jesus life when he was homeless, and did you know that most that followed God were as well, or they left behind what they had, to follow Him.

The word “poor” occurs 205 times in 197 verses in the KJV Bible. God’s view on the poor is very clear. It is safe to say that Jesus was a homeless person at least some of the time (see Luke 9:58). The people that Jesus associated with were homeless and poor as well. Paul, who was a close follower of Jesus wrote “even until now we…have no certain dwelling place” (see 1 Corinthians 4:11). And finally, Paul writes that God’s only begotten Son became poor although he was rich for our sakes (see 2 Corinthians 8:9). Does this mean He loves us any less, by no means does it mean that, its pretty clear in Gods word that He loves us even more. He knows the daily struggles that you go through, you have to give them to Him to carry, just ask, He will be there.
Luke 9:58 - And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air [have] nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay [his] head.
1Corintians 4:11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place;
2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
These are only three of the 197 verses. Jesus knows first hand what you are going through. The Bible states that God will deliver the poor from their affliction, see Psalms 107:41 yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock. Since Christians should look toward God as an example of how to live, the poor are the responsibility of us. Jesus explains that the reasoning for this is that whenever someone feeds someone who is hungry or gives drink to the thirsty, he is actually doing so unto Jesus himself. Matthew 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of the least of these, ye did [it] not to me.There is nothing more to say here, other than to love thy neighbor as Jesus loves you. Lend a helping hand to those in need; you never know when it might be you. God bless all those that are hungry, tired and weary, He loves you as do I.
