What does His Rising mean to you?

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.

Easter is celebrating Jesus' victory over death and man’s hope for eternal life. The Easter story includes Jesus' execution, His burial and, most importantly, His rising from death. On Easter morning, Jesus rises from the dead, showing that God can conquer even the grave

If we know Jesus, every sin we`ve sinned, every way we`ve blown it, every failure, were all nailed to the cross with Jesus, and when he died they died with him, and he took those things to the grave with him. But when he rose, he rose up empty-handed, and left those things in the grave where they belong. If you know Jesus, then your sins, your failures, your insecurities, the ways you`ve been hurt, the ways you`ve hurt others, the horrible things that have been said to you, and the ways you`ve blown it - they are dead. Jesus rose, but those things did not. They stayed in the tomb. They are behind you. They can`t find you. They won`t haunt you. They can`t control you. God has buried them on the bottom of the ocean floor. The slate has been wiped clean. Not only are you forgiven, but if you know Jesus he gives you a second, and a third, and a fourth chance, however many you need, until you get it right. That is the true meaning of Easter. Celebrate a new life in Christ. Give Praise and a heart of thanks for what Your Heavenly Father gave that day on the cross, and what He left behind when He rose.

Matthew 28:1-10
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

Easter

Easter, or Resurrection Day, as many Christians refer to the holiday, is a time when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.


Romans 1:4-5
And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name. (NLT)

Easter Sunday, the third day from when Jesus was buried, it was discovered that Jesus had risen from death and left the Roman guarded tomb. He had appeared to two women who came to see the tomb and saw the large rock rolled away from the entrance and to two disciples walking on the road to a small village seven miles away from Jerusalem When Jesus left them, they went back to Jerusalem to tell the other disciples how Jesus talked and ate with them. By now, the other disciples knew that Jesus' body was not in the tomb and they did not believe the story told by the women about Jesus' appearance to them. The scripture says, '...as yet they did not understand the scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead'. They locked themselves in their homes, afraid the Jews would come after them because they were disciples of Jesus.

While they were talking together, Jesus appeared to them saying, "Peace be with you" and then he opened their minds to the scripture and imparted the Holy Spirit upon them saying, "As the Father has sent me, so I send you." One of the disciples named Thomas was not there and when the other disciples told him what happened, he said, "I will never believe it without seeing and feeling the holes in his hands where they nailed him to the cross and wound in his side where the Roman spear pierced his body."

A week later when the disciples were all together, Jesus came and stood before them saying, "Peace be with you", and then he said to Thomas,”Take your finger and examine my hands. Put your hand into my side. Do not persist in your unbelief, but believe!"

Thomas said, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus said to him:
"You became a believer because you saw me. Blessed are they who have not seen and have believed."

Romans 6:8-11
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Jesus loves us all, He gave His life to us on the cross, then on the third day He rose so He could go prepare a place for us after we leave this earth. Take time out of your busy schedules and acknowledge Jesus Christ every day, become a believer, so that you too will have life eternally. God bless each of you.
