"Rest"

Many people have different ideas of what rest is like, for some people rest is reading a good book, for others it is watching a football game on Sunday afternoons, for others it is sleeping in on Saturday mornings.

Rest is God's plan for Christians who are going through testing, who are having problems. Rest is the means by which Christians can have JOY, happiness in this life, which does not depend on people, circumstances, or things. Think of it! God promises that you can have the peace and joy of God, in spite of what is happening in your life, in spite of the problems and testing that you are going through.

Exodus 33:14) And He said, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."

(Matthew) Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength." Be worried for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

"For we which have believed do enter into rest"

God doesn't get tired; He doesn't need to rest in the way that humans do. His rest was when He "ended his work which he had made":

"Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made." (Genesis 2:1-3 KJV)

It’s crunch time for everyone, you have to take time out to rest, be properly nourished so that you can further your knowledge in the Lord. We have to be prepared every day of our lives to be able to reach out and bring the lost sheep home. Rest is so important, even God rested as you read above. So…God isn’t exactly saying “Rest when you have time”, He’s serious about you setting aside time to rest! – God allows us to take a break and this is good! We can celebrate!

It’s a chance for us to relax and recharge. Reflect at what He has done for us. He wants us to drink in the blessings that He has given, but if we are going so fast all the time, everything will be blurred and we will never receive what is in store for us…Take time out to rest.
